The Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra Meets Dmitri Shostakovich and Arturo Márquez in Caracas

The elegant expertise of Venezuelan youth meets the Russian Shostakovich and the Mexican Márquez. Shostakovich’s 10th symphony was premiered shortly after the death of Stalin. The composer was 47. Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 premiered in 1994, when Márquez was 44. The performances are conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, in Caracas, for the 2009 TED talks.
